![]() ![]() ![]() DPad in MK8 would give you a perfect soft drift angle 100% of the time by simply holding in any diagonal direction, and combined with the traction advantage, it would save whole seconds on every track, even if you weren't that good at the game. There was a thing called Soft Drifting in MK8, you would place your stick at a 45° angle (70% input) to drift at a rather soft rate yet charge your MT/SMT at full rate. Full left, 70% left (hold diagonally up/down and left), neutral, 70% right (up/down and right), full right. Not only was it the one control method that gave it the traction advantage of motion controls without actually having to use motion, but it also only gave you a total of 5 drift angles per side. ![]() In MK8, the Wiimote's DPad was extremely OP as a control method. To understand why, we need to go back to MK8.
